Slovenia Street Art
A stroll through the streets of Ljubljana, the Capital city of Slovenia, is a literal eye-opener. Everywhere you go you are greeted with wall murals, graffiti, sculptures, cartoons, decorations, and a story behind each and every art piece.
The Metelkova City Autonomous Cultural Centre is arguably THE street art zone of Ljubljiana and home to artistic youth groups collectively known as "Network for Metelkova". Their creativity was unleashed onto the area following permission from the municipality of Ljubljiana back in 1991, shortly after Yugoslavia was dissolved.
The result is mind-boggling art. A beautiful mishmash of collective creativity in every form imaginable. There's even a basketball court where you can give spray painting a go and add some of your own graffiti to the mix. A true outlet for creative expression and a haven for young artists.
